More than 30 parties apply for MACI membership

MALE, Dec 4 (HNS) – More than 30 parties have applied for membership in the newly formed Maldives Association of Construction Industry (MACI).

An official said that membership is open and that more parties have expressed their interest in participating in the association.

“Some 30 to 35 parties have applied for membership,” said Hassan Waheed, an official of MACI.

“We assume that as more people become aware of the setup of this association, they will express interest to join our association.”

Hassan said that MACI is presently working towards arranging the association’s inaugural assembly.

“We are trying to hold it before the beginning of 2002,” he said.

Seven top construction companies formed MACI in October. Membership is open to all Maldives construction companies.

Construction companies form association

Male, November 15 (HNS) – The construction companies of Maldives has formed an association named Maldives Association of Construction Industry (MACI).The founder members of MACI, which was formed on October 30, are Aima, Amin, Jausa, Alia, Vimla, Lucky Hiyaa and FW Construction.

MACI’s official Adam Maniku said that the aim of the association includes increasing the trust of the public in construction companies, solve disputes between the clients and the companies and increase the cooperation between the construction companies.Maniku said that MACI will be run under certain regulations and that members will be elected for executive posts. The registered address of MACI is at G. Aima.

Maniku said that any construction company in Maldives could become a member of MACI. He said that the application for membership is open till November 20.

The annual subscription of a member is Rf600.
